Last year I volunteered at the Hope Water Project Marathon Pep Rally, I was mind blown at what I learned that night. I had always thought people without access to clean water travelled 'far' to get it but then filtered it and "it was fine". What I learned is that these women and children travel up to 10 miles one way, and when they get to the water, it's the only water for miles. It's shared with cows, goats and other wildlife; there are no filters, they are drinking this thick, yellow, unfiltered, disease ridden water. That was the moment I decided to run this year.
