Kensington Men | Winter 2024
Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17) and we become better men, husbands and dads. Everyone benefits when a man becomes a Godly man. This doesn’t happen with good intentions. It happens when men choose to commit. We have a lot of opportunities for men to engage. Not only do we have a weekly mid-sized group that meets at the church, but we have smaller groups that meet in various locations throughout the week. We also have groups for men who love to work on cars, or to hunt and fish, or to serve others while working on home projects.
Kensington Men is a gathering of men who dig into topics specifically picked for men. We enjoy hanging together, encouraging each other, learning about what God has for us as men, and how we can build a legacy through the spheres we influence in our neighborhoods, the nations, and the next generations.
Birmingham men gather monthly for Men's Nights at Birmingham-area homes. Each monthly gathering is hosted at a different location. Men enjoy dinner, a word of encouragement, discussion, and games. More details are announced each month.
Clinton Township Campus
Clinton Township men gather for large-group teaching followed by small-group discussion. Two studies will be offered this semester. The first is 7 Challenges Men Encounter. The culture we are in is confusing men in their pursuit of what biblical manhood is. Learn how to live courageously and with integrity through the lens of Jesus Christ with 7 characteristics pursuing biblical manhood. The second is In Light of Eternity. If you have been in the church world for any amount of time you have heard the word "eternity." What does this truly mean and more importantly how does this concept play out in our everyday lives? We will listen to some of today’s great teachers on this topic and talk about it with other men.
Orion men will gather for teaching and discussion about The Book of Galatians by Kyle Idleman. Kyle dives into the book of Galatians, one that contains some of the clearest explanations of the gospel in the New Testament. Through biblical study and engaging lessons, Kyle shows that true freedom is found in surrender, not self-dependence. Because our gospel is not one based on our works, but faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Traverse City Campus
Traverse City men gather for teaching and discussion about The Book of James by Francis Chan. This study speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus—the kind of roll-up-your-sleeves and get-your-hands-dirty discipleship that is borne out of an authentic relationship with the risen Lord. James writes to believers who know suffering, who've faced trials, and who ultimately desire a deep relationship with God. Through 12 sessions, Francis challenges followers of Christ to move beyond a private, intellectual knowledge of God and His Word, to a vibrant faith that impacts every square inch of life.
Troy men gather during Wednesday Nights at Troy which includes a large-group teaching and small-group discussion. Two studies will be offered this semester. The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry asks the question “who am I becoming?” Within the pages of this study, you’ll find a fascinating roadmap to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world. Fight Like Jesus by is about Lent. What if we embraced a different approach to peacemaking? We desperately need to recover the radical vision of peacemaking that Jesus embodied throughout Holy Week. This is a journey through Jesus’ final week discovering why He is called the Prince of Peace.
