INSIGHTS

Insights is an in-depth Bible study taught by our own Kensington women. Each week at Insights, the teacher shares their love of Jesus, reveals Biblical truths, and connects how it applies to our lives. Insights meets weekly for two hours, beginning with a large group teaching then breaking into small groups for discussion. Insights will be studying the book of Hebrews.

Suggested donation of $15 for materials. Childcare is available for some daytime programs. Optional donation is available to offset the cost of child care for those mothers who could be blessed by your support. Insights homework is available for pickup on the first day.

Insights resources, including study guides and teaching videos, are available at insightsbiblestudy.org.

ENCOUNTER

Encounter is a study which focuses on particular topics by identifying real needs or asking a question and exploring what the Bible says about it.

If a workbook is required, costs will vary by campus and study; you will be prompted during registration to purchase your workbook from Kensington and get it on the first day, or purchase it on your own.

Campus Encounter Studies
Clinton Township: Ruth: Loss, Love & Legacy by Kelly Minter
Ruth is a women's Bible study of Ruth's journey of unbearable loss, redeeming love, and divine legacy. This study delves into the virtuous character of Ruth, her unique relationship with her mother-in-law Naomi, and her blossoming love with Boaz. If you've ever felt devastated, struggled as a stranger, longed to be loved, or wept along the way, you'll find a loyal sister in Ruth.
  • Led by Tracey Henkel. This in-person study begins January 24.

  • Orion: Jesus and Women by Kristi McLelland In this study, we will journey together to discover how Jesus saw and treated women. Our guide, Kristi McLelland, has devoted her life to teaching biblical studies in seminary, particularly by taking her students through texts that give a clearer understanding of what was occurring in Jewish culture when Jesus interacted with women. Each week we will view a video teaching followed by discussion.
  • Co-Led by Heidi Anderson & Carol Van Dyk. This 8 week hybrid study will meet in person. We will meet 7pm to 8:30pm. The first meeting will be in-person on January 19 at Kensington Orion. Please purchase your book ahead of time. You can purchase the book at Lifeway.com/JesusAndWomen or at any local or online bookstore. We encourage you to choose the option “Video Access” in case you must miss a week. Our last meeting, March 9th, we will meet in person at a location TBD.

  • Troy and Birmingham: The Chosen Bible Study
This study uses the popular, groundbreaking series which explores the life of Jesus by powerfully portraying the person of Jesus through the eyes of those around Him. It also highlights notable Biblical characters and builds intriguing backstories and personalities. Whether you’re encountering Jesus for the first time or have been a lifelong follower, He shows us over and over that we have so much to learn by walking close to Him. There is meaning and purpose in a life that is in step with Him and you are chosen. Each week we will view a video teaching followed by discussion.
  • Birmingham: The Chosen Season 1 Bible Study | Led by Jenny Warns. This in-person and virtual study begins January 23.
  • Troy: The Chosen Season 2 Bible Study | Led by Patty Wernette. This in-person study begins January 25.

  • Traverse City: It's Not Supposed to Be This Way by Lysa TerKeurst
Life often looks so very different than we hoped or expected. Some events may simply catch us off guard for a moment, but others shatter us completely. We feel disappointed and disillusioned, and we quietly start to wonder about the reality of God’s goodness. Lysa understands this and invites us into her own journey of faith and, with grit, vulnerability, and honest humor, helps us to see our lives in the context of God’s bigger story. Whether we’re dealing with daily disappointments or life-altering loss, we can find unexpected strength as we learn what it means to wrestle well between our faith and our feelings.
  • Lead by Jeannie Stevens. This in-person study begins January 18.

    The Well

The Well is a gathering place for women; a connection point where we live out our daily lives and responsibilities but have an encounter with Christ! Through sharing stories, biblical truths and providing intentional connection time, we create a safe (and fun!) place for women to gather and courageously reclaim their identity in Christ. We will also focus heavily on supporting those around us, reminding each other that God intended us to live in community (because we’re better together than we are alone - Romans 12:4-5). Meets on select Thursdays from 7pm-8:30pm at Bridgewood Church (6567 Rattalee Lake Rd., Clarkston).
