The purpose of this trip is to serve and to listen. Our hope is for this team to hear about life on the border from several different perspectives. Some may be familiar, some may be unique, and some may even be challenging. The trip would include both experiential learning and guided discussions surrounding visits to relevant local historic sites, the border wall, and places of service. The team will serve at the Catholic Charities Refuge and the Welcome Center in Rio Grande Valley, TX, providing support for people who have entered the U.S. and are awaiting transportation to their sponsored locations or who are still being processed and in need of basic care like a cold meal and hygiene kits.
The cost of the trip for participants departing from Detroit is $1,600 and for participants departing out of Traverse City, the cost is $1,800 with a $300 non-refundable deposit due at registration.
